Require or Disable Minutes on CPT Codes
A new payer setting in Stride allows you to Require or Disable minutes on CPT Codes when locking a note.
The new “Require Minutes for CPT Codes” setting is located on the Compliance/Billing Rules tab of the edit payer configurations page.
There are three options for this setting: All Codes, Optional, and Disabled.
All Codes: This option will require minutes entered for all CPT codes. If this is enabled, a clinician will only be able to sign a note if all CPT codes, both timed and untimed codes, have minutes inputted.
Optional: This option operates the same as Stride did before this feature update. Selecting this allows the clinician to input minutes to calculate units, but they are not required to do so. If any CPT code does not have minutes inputted the clinician will receive a warning that the units do not match the minutes entered, however the clinician can bypass this warning and sign the note.
Disabled: This option will completely remove the minutes fields from the Billing tab on the note. Minutes will also be removed from the PDFs generated after the note is locked.

Ignore Evaluation Codes for Max Unit Validation
This payer setting will ignore evaluation and re-evaluation codes when totaling billed CPT codes on a note and comparing that total to the payer’s max allowed units. For example, if a payer is configured to allow a maximum of 3 units, if this setting is on then a clinician may bill 4 units in total – 3 timed or untimed units + 1 unit for an evaluation code.
The new “Ignore Eval Codes Max Units” setting is located on the Compliance/Billing Rules tab of the edit payer configurations page.
In the above example the Maximum Units field is set to 3. Historically, this has meant you can only bill 3 CPT Codes on the note, no matter what.
If this setting is turned on to “Yes”, then an evaluation code billed will be completely ignored when counting max units. This will allow you to bill four units instead of three on evaluation notes as long as one of those units is an evaluation code.
If this setting is turned off to “No” then evaluation codes will count just like every other code. You will only be able to bill 3 units. The “No” option operates the same as Stride did before this feature update.
