The “Require Minutes for CPT Codes” setting is located on the Compliance/Billing Rules tab of the edit payer configurations page. This setting allows you to Require or Disable minutes on CPT Codes when locking a note.
There are three options for this setting: 1. All Codes, 2. Optional, and 3. Disabled.
- All Codes: This option requires minutes entered for all CPT codes. If this is enabled, a clinician will only be able to sign a note if all CPT codes, both timed and untimed codes, have minutes inputted.
- Optional: Selecting this allows the clinician to input minutes to calculate units, but they are not required to do so. If any CPT code does not have minutes inputted the clinician will receive a warning that the units do not match the minutes entered, however the clinician can bypass this warning and sign the note.
3. Disabled: This option completely removes the minutes fields from the Billing tab on the note. Minutes will also be removed from the PDFs generated after the note is locked.
