Best Practice Workflow:
- Track Procedure Codes in the Flowsheet: Within the Flowsheet tab, select procedure codes relevant to your appointment. Add dates and treatment times for each code. This ensures flowsheet entries populate the note report and billing section automatically.
- Navigate to the Billing Tab: Once you open the Billing tab within the patient’s note, you’ll see the procedure codes and times pulled in from the Flowsheet.
-
Use the "Calculate Units" Button: Click “Calculate Units” to:
- Automatically apply correct units based on the flowsheet entry
- Add appropriate modifiers (e.g., GP, 59) based on the payer's rules
Pro Tips
- Ensure payer rules (units per time, modifiers, etc.) are properly set up by your admin/billing team.
- Enter flowsheet data to track procedure codes and have the option to carry forward to reference during future treatment sessions
Why It Matters
Using the flowsheet + "Calculate Units" feature improves documentation efficiency, reduces billing errors and minimizes insurance denials due to incorrect coding.
